Grandpa Bob & Grandma Cindy's Visit

Two weeks ago Grandpa Bob and Grandma Cindy came out for a visit. We had such a nice time and it was the first time Cindy had seen Jack since he was about 5 weeks old. We kept very busy. Grandpa liked pushing Jack in his swing and we took lots of walks.

Grandpa took time to teach Jackson the finer points of baseball. He kept trying to get Jack to say "Go Yankees!" But Jack has Red Sox nation in his heart and he will never utter those frightening words!

We took Jack to Red Butte Gardens and walked through the water fountains as well as fed the ducks and the fish.

Grandpa and Grandma enjoyed all the funny faces and amusing hair do's of bath time.

It is always so great to see Grandpa and Grandma, but I think they might have worn Jack out! We had such a great time and can't wait to see them at Christmas!

First Haircut

Jack got his first haircut a couple of weekends ago. Grandpa Bob and Grandma Cindy came for a visit and we took Jack to get the golden locks trimmed. Dustin didn't think we got quite enough cut off, but it was enough for me. I didn't want to cut off all his cute curls! I guess I just need to take it a little at a time.

Pre-Hair cut Picture

At the hair cut place he got to sit in a little car, just like the one he has at home!

Things started out pretty good, they had a video on for him and we tried to distract him...

But he did have one small meltdow!

Overall he did really well and I think it was a successful haircut!

First Birthday!

I cannot believe that Jack is 1! It all goes so fast...too fast. He was only a baby for such a short time and now he is a toddler! It is so good to see him growing and developing into such a cute little boy, but I do miss the baby that would just let me hold him all day. Now he just wants to cruise around the house and get into as many things as possible and make as big of mess as is possible.

I know his birthday was over a month ago and once again I am late on my posts, but I just haven't had time to sit down and take care of it. But it is up now and I hope everyone enjoys the pictures of Jack's first birthday.

We celebrated Jack's birthday in conjunction with my best friend Amy's nephew, David. David turned 22 and Jack 1. It was quite the combination, but it was fun having the Garcia family there to share in Jack's big day! We went to a park in SLC...of course I thought $75 for a bowery was way too much money for a first birthday so we just hoped that no one had reserved it. I had about 3/4 of the decorations set up and sure enough a big truck turned up and a party had arrived that had reserved the site for that day. You would think that by 4:00 on a Sunday afternoon that if no one had set anything up it would be free, but no. Luckily the people were very nice and offered to share the area with us. We used 3 of the 12 tables and then sat out under the grass and I don't think we interrupted their small wedding reception. The parties were both small enough we could keep out of each other's way.

It happened to be ninety some degrees that day and it was a good thing we brought a hose, little swimming pool, water guns and water balloons. It kept things cool and in the shade it didn't get too hot. Jack got all kinds of cool presents and ten dove into his cake, literally! Amy made Jack a cake shaped like a cupcake and Jack thought it was delicious! It was a good thing we had a kiddie pool to clean off in.

One thing I didn't think about was planning a party around Jack's nap time. He did pretty well, but by the time we got to opening presents and eating cake he was rubbing his eyes. He made it though and he was such a trooper. The party started at 4:00 and we didn't get home until after 9 pm. The party was at the Frisbee golf course and the boys went Frisbee golfing after the party was over. We just hung out and played with the new toys while the boys went Frisbee golfing.

All in all I think it was a great success and a great way to celebrate Jack's first birthday! Thanks to all the friends and family who came to celebrate with us and make such a great 1st birthday memories!
