Easter Pictures

Jackson's first Easter was very nice. We spent the morning just the three of us watching Jackson play with/in his Easter basket.

After our morning of Easter festivities at home we went over to Rebecca's house (Pete's mother-in-law) for our Easter Egg hunt. The kids hunt for eggs while the adults hunt for money!

9 Months Old

Jackson turned 9 moths old and I cannot believe how big he is getting. He is doing all kinds of fun things...clapping his hands and doing tribal Indian calls with his mouth. He giggles when we tickle him and when we zerbit on his tummy. Of course as a PT, I am a little worried that he is not crawling. He scoots around on his butt and his doctor says it is okay that he hasn't crawled yet, but still. He will sit on his butt and go to his hands and knees, but as soon as he starts to go further than that he goes flat and then rolls on his back. I know as soon as he starts I will be pulling my hair out...but the professional in me says he needs to crawl.

He doesn't have any teeth yet either, but the doctor does not seem too worried about that. She said she has seen kids as late as 15 months get teeth. During his appointment we talked a lot about his progression of food. As a first time mom sometimes I am not sure how to progress him...how long do I leave him on baby food and when can I start adult food. She said I can pretty much feed him what he wants. She said to avoid honey, fish, wheat bread, nuts and eggs. She said whatever he can gum and chew he can eat. Right now he is on stage 2 & 3 baby food, crackers, bananas and as suggested by his MD we began yogurt. I am not sure he is ready to start the yogurt because he has had some unusual diaper rash, the verdict is still out on the yogurt.

He is still a little guy, he is 25% for both height and weight, but 75% in head size...he has his dad's head. The nice thing about him being small is that he is able to stay in his clothes longer. We did have a long talk with the doctor about getting him to sleep through the night. For the last 3 months he has been waking up at 2:00 AM to eat. His doctor says this is just a habit and we need to take a long weekend to work on it. Of course I think we can nip it in the bud and I try it on a Wednesday night and it was a nightmare. I don't know how I did it, but it broke my heart to hear him cry. Dustin would go in and pat his back (I was not supposed to go in because he would be able to smell my milk). He would fall asleep and wake up over and over and this lasted from about 1-3 AM. I went in once to pat his back and this made everything much worse. He ended up crying himself to sleep. It sucked! The good news is, ever since then he has either slept through the night or Dustin has patted his back for at most 5 min. I also asked if when I put him on regular milk at 1 year if I should give him a bottle to fall asleep. Since he has been born he has nursed himself to sleep and then I put him in his crib. The doctor said this would not be the best idea because then I would have to just wean him off the bottle too, so in the next 3 months we need to work on putting him in his crib to fall asleep. She suggested a sippy cup of milk prior to bed and then laying him in his crib. For now we are going to focus on sleeping through the night and then we can tackle falling asleep in his crib.

Cousin Janey!!!

Behind again! I guess it is the story of my blogging life. Uncle Brian, Aunt Kari and Cousin Janey came out for a visit a couple of weeks ago. What a blast! We had so much fun with them here and I wished they would have just stayed longer...they could have just moved into the basement. I don't think Brian would have even needed to get a job. The money we could have saved on day care could cover the extra expenses!

Of course I left my camera at my father-in-laws house and could not take any pictures the whole time they were here, but I poached pictures from Brian. I did however have my video camera. The videos below are of Jack and Janey's first meeting.

Whenever the 4 of us get together we tend to go into competition mode. We always play games as teams of Korfhage's (Brian & Kristen) vs. Non-Korfhage's (Kari & Dustin). This year we ended in a draw...disputed by Kari, but the Korfhage's kicked some serious butt at bowling.

Jack and Janey took to each other easily. I think at times Jack overwhelmed Janey and was a little too physical for her tastes, but I guess that is just the nature of a boy.

Bath time is always fun, even when Jack is attacking Janey...again.

Of course there always the antics of Jack and Janey's moms...they just better get used to being embarrassed!
